Merry Christmas!!!

Hey Family and Friends!
I sent you another Email regarding skype!

This week was super awesome and crazy. So that we can have things to talk ill save the majority for the skype on christmas!

But some highlights of the week were, finding two more people that said yes to getting baptized if God answers their prayers.
We had our activity of caroling and christmas activities which was way crazy and stressful at first but ended amazing.
Had a super awesome experience in a baptismal interview, Its always so cool to do baptismal interviews to hear the testimonies of the people that are ready to take upon themselves the name of christ. He will be the father of a family that all are members already (wife and kids) and now he will be completing this family :) . As well we have a couple more activities for this weekend but Ill be telling you about those during skype, the first is today we are going to be traveling to a place called rio negro a city nearby where we will be singing in the plaza with another zone. and Sunday we are part of the stake choir and the christmas program will be tomorrow sunday, so we are excited for that. Ha my head has never hurt so much at all the planning and preparations for a lot of things but Im still enjoying it!

Its been super super hot this last week, I think this was the first week of all my mission where it hadnt rained once in the week. I think thats a record here in southern chile haha.

But yep excited to hear from you all this week, christmas is such an amazing time to serve others and enjoy it with the people we love. Lets continue to remember why and not get caught up in the meaning of christmas that the world has created. ooh man it is nuts how people can act during this time, here in the stores its nuts, it reminds me of when we would go to the mall the week of christmas. Im so greatful we have the gospel to remind us of the true meaning of christmas. So im excited for this week to continue serving in this time. Hope we all can reach out our hand and find a way to help the rest remember the reason for the season, and bring the spirit to someonee this christmas.... be talking with you soon fam!!!! Love you guys a ton!

Christmas Caroling! Loving the christmas season!

Hey Family and Friends! thanks for all the birthday wishes once again! It was definately a week to remember! It was sweet to hear from some friends and everyone!

This week has been amazing yet one of the busiest weeks I have ever had on my mission. This week we had a zone conference, mutual, leadership council, and an activity that we planned of caroling with all of the zone at the zone of all of the investigatores that they are working most with. Maybe I can start first with the zone conference. It went super well!!! I think the part most stressful was having to plan all the details, it was a conference for 80 missionaries, like the lunch, location, tables chairs, and DISHES, oh man I never thought finding dishes would be so hard ha we had to look in so many different places to find disposible dishes. BUT after some stressful days of coordinating it happened and ended amazing. The focus this conference was the holy ghost. It was amazing!!!! It was exactly what our zone needed to hear. It was all about the most important thing we need to know about converting someone or the way someone can endure to the end and enjoy the blessings of the gospel is by having the spirit. I think a great example of this was a lesson we had monday. We were working with a teenager who is preparing to serve a mission and we knocked on a door to teach and he let us in. The lesson went amazing, our focus was our purpose as missionaries to show and invite him to try the restored gospel  (ha well thats what we teach always) but it was so cool how we put emphasis on the spirit that he his feeling in this moment and that he WILL feel as he does the things we invite him to do. As we invited him to baptism he agreed excited to see if this great news of the true church of christ really does exist. He ended with a prayer and I can tell you I felt the spirit so strong. IT was incredible, there are sometimes where you just know everyone in that room felt the spirit, now its our job to show him the evidence and way to apply the restored gospel in his life.

The activity we planned I would say is one of the highlights of my entire mission. It was such an amazing day. We came up with the idea to leave as a zone and sing to all of our investigators that are more receptive and our baptismal goals. We had to coordinate all the directions and coordinate the rides but after a lot of stressful coordinating and planning it was incredible. We had all of our zone together with santa hats and red ties, with some other members from our stake. As we suprised each of the investigators the spirit was incredible, I felt the spirit touch the hearts of these people, as we sang to the people we had planned some of the neighbors of the people began to come out, I was so impressed with the missionaries in our zone and the members here, they began to go over to them and talk to them and we sang to them as well, the coolest part of this activity is its just the invititation to a even bigger activity we are going to do, we created a ton of invites to our activity we planned as a zone to come to the plaza in down town to come here us sing carols, then to go to the stake center after for some hot chocolate and activitys of christmas. Music has such a great power to invite the spirit into the hearts of the people. We started at 6 and ended at around 9:30 it was amazing. We sang to many families and you could just see the excitement, one man that the sister missionaries were teaching after singing, he was emotional and then said he was going to get baptized. We took a picture of each of the missionaries and their investigators and we will be giving them out as gifts for christmas to each investigator. I can tell you right now that this christmas season has been one of the most amazing christmass I have ever had, I know without a doubt that christ is my redeemer and when we think of others and serve them with love, we will find that eternal joy. This is the restored gospel of christ. I know... because the spirit has testified to me, The most I have ever felt the spirit is when I live the gospel and strive to apply it in my life. I hope we all can have those experiences, it all starts with applying the restored gospel in our lives, having that desire to serve our God with all our might.

With other news its that time again to talk with you guys for christmas, Ill be letting you know what time and all, whats the time difference during this season? More than likely we will be writing in the night. But Ill let you know.

I had a awesome birthday! My mamita made a special dinner for me of home made hamburgers! FIRST TIME EVER on the mission!!! and a desser t name brazo de reigna (queens arm) hahah weird I know, but its like a cake but like a roll its super delicious.
Thanks so much for the gifts for christmas!!! im stoked to make our cardboard tree and put the lights hahah, We are loving the christms present gifts! ha me and my comp are getting a kick at it! awesome idea!! ha looks like you put a lot of thought in it, I love it.

Take Care!

Awesome Week! Thanks for the invites!

Hey Family and Friends!
Thanks so much for all the Birthday Emails!!!!
ha ill need to print them all out to be able to read them all and ill read them tuesday! thanks so much! the work has been amazing....our sector doesnt really have any investigatores but we are finding!!! never a time on the mission where I havent enjoyed it, We are working with the jovenes a lot, one joven we are teaching he is only 12 years old and his mom is inactive but we are trying to activate his mom and get him to want to be baptized. We actually have a sweet activity planned at 6 today! We are going to be showing the jovenes how to build a fire and then we bought supplies for smores. ha graham crackers dont exist here so we are improvizing with other type of cookies, ill be sure to take pictures! That one joven is actually coming and inviting his cousin so we are excited each activity one person more has come so lets hope it keeps rising.

Sounds like you are all well though!
other news is we finally got our house organized!!!! we asked one of the missionary couples if they could give us another table and a shelf because we didnt have anything basically and they hooked us up. Ill take a picture of our house as well. We are actually going to make a christmas tree out of cardboard for christmas.

This next week will be crazy, already this week we have been preparing the zone conference for our zone, we have to coordinate it because our zone is hosting it and 2 other zones are coming so we have had to coordinate the trips to the conference, the hermana that will cook the lunch, etc. But we are excited to see how it goes. We also have some other counsel meeting stuff later in the week so we have to prepare a presentation of how our zone is doing and what we have planned to do better.
With our zone we are also planning some sweet activities for all the investigators who are planning on getting baptized or who have a goal to get baptized as missionaries we are trying to get approved to go as a zone singing carols to these investigators and with that carol and visit we were going to invite them to a small activity at the stake center where we will be giving tours of the capilla with some fun acitivities of navidad with hot chocolate BUT we still have to plan it just some ideas me and my comp are creating. Lets hope we get something going!

We have been finding a ton of news to teach so that has been awesome! we just are really trying to find people to progress. but we are really praying and working hard...I have never prayed so hard to find a family that we can bless with the great message we have. We have that desire we just got to do our part and let the lord do the rest.
Ha something super cool that we are doing with me and my comp and a little funny is we are singing a hymn in the morning immediately when we wake up to help us get going faster and invite the spirit first thing in the morning. Its working amazing and it puts you in a awesome mood. haha but not going to lie we sing terribly. I think its more that we sing super well but people here it bad. But try singing in the morning one day and youll see what I mean its hard to get the pipes warm;)

But hey what more can I say, loving every minute of the mission, I just have such a big desire to keep learning more about our heavenly fathers plan and how I can continue to help others. This is the best season to be a missionary. Thanks for all the love from back home, it just gives me that much more excitement for the work, haha and dont worry mom pictures from home dont make me trunky. But hey love you all take care! Get the christmas spirit going there! I think the best way to remember christ is to listen to some nice christmas songs and invite others to come unto christ ha.
ha oh yeah one more thing! WE PLAYED FOOTBALL FOOTBALL TODAY!!! with the whole zone it was the best thing ever haha send you more photos next week,
Chaito!

Baseball and Chimbombas! (Photos)

Hey Hey! Well this week has been way sweet, we have been sooooo busy but enjoying every moment, My comp is way awesome and we have really been enjoying the mission and working hard. This week we have had to plan some awesome things.

First... CHIMBOMBAS!!!
So what is chimbombas? Im sure your dying to know...we did a activity yesterday for our ward that we have been planning for some good time now called chimbombas! It is an activity in a form of a gameshow that everything to do with it has to do with balloons, the fun of it was NO ONE knew what chimbomba meant and everyone was super curius to what it meant...a hna from Niceragua told us balloons in nicerague are called chimbombas so we thought it would be a good idea for an activity, what we did we put a ton of balloons "chimbombas" on a white board and put different game titles inside the balloons, each game with a sweet title like chimbujando...or me duele la chimbomba (my chimbomba hurts) haha we were having some fun with the game titles and games.... but it went super super well!
We did so much propaganda for the activity, we were scared that no one would come because our ward is super small....BUT people came!!!! and it went perfectly. ha every second were popping balloons and screaming "chimbombas!!!" definately a success. ha it was super fun to see all people participating.

Other thing fun is we are in charge of the young mens in our ward and with the bishop we planned an activity this morning to go out with them to a house of the first counselor's friend in the campo, we did service around the house (his friend wasnt member) as well as went to a field and played BASEBALL!!!! ha it was so awesome I couldnt believe it when the 1st counselor took out a bat and tennis balls it was way sweet, it made my week ha it was way fun, there way of playing is a bit different but still way fun, first time seeing baseball and playing baseball in chile, nice little Gringo Culture for the week:) At the end of the activity with the jovenes we sung a song to his friend and shared something short with him, the spirit was super strong as all the young men were singing with us all together, its a privelage to work with the young men.

Also this week has been such an awesome week of teaching, our sector has been known to be a lot slower, but we have been having a ton of excitement in the work and have found and taught a good amount of people this week, we are stoked to get this place going, like I said we have a program in mind to remind the members of their mission duty, we actually have plans to give a "mission call of duty" to the members with a map of our ward boundaries and make it look like a mission call, we also want to take a picture of them and make like a plaque that we can put on the anouncement board of all the members with mission duties (which is everyone but its a fun way of reminding us all) we are way stoked to get this thing going.

ha something funny that happened was some missionaries in our zone lost their cell phone on the bus and called it and it was a man that said if you want the cell phone come to the Lider (wallmart) tomorrow at 2 with 20 bucks, ha I guess its not to funny but you dont hear that to often, our phones arent to fancy and his price for obtaining the cellphone wasnt to high so we will see what happens with this later... the assistants are going to pass by....We have also had to teach a older man in our ward that is in the sector of the hermanas misioneras because he asked if one would get married to him, he is a recent convert and is 85 more or less, I think he just is a little confused so we will be the ones to pass by to help him focus more on the doctrine and spirit rather then the other feelings... ha interesting but yep!

Oh yeah our mamita is super awesome! Did I not tell you yet that she cooks amazing? one of the best mamitas Ive had I think its a tie with her and the mamita from puerto natales. This mamita is a cook for her living so its super bakan. But for thanksgiving she made us a nicer meal with meat and potato salad and a sweet cake with strawberries ha we got to do our family tradition of saying one thing we are thankful for....ill always remember the thanksgiving we had when we had subaru and all his asian friends come over hahah

But hey what more can I tell you that Im working hard, and loving my life right now, the mission is amazing and all I want to do is declare these things that make our lives have so much purpose and happiness. I can see the mission excitement is happening back home with you guys and it brings me so much happiness to see that. Sharing this message and living it is the best combination to find our testimonies and mantain them. This is the best and only way to find peace in this life and the life after. Love you guys a ton

New Cambio! Happy Thanksgiving!

Hey Family! so this week went super well it was pretty crazy at the beginning...quick question thanksgiving hasnt passed right? I think mom you said that its this next week?
We had cambios this week, It was so nuts with cambios, I had to stay at the bus terminal all day constantly calling other missionaries making sure they got to the right place, ha at some times there was sooooooo much bags in the terminal, my companion is super cool guy he is in my group! His name is Elder Salazar he is a stud, he is from Mendoza, Argentina. Ha by the end of my mission im going to have all sorts of different slangs and sayings from all the different countries. Osorno is in the center of all the mission por location so the transfers were very fun ha. We were there from 8 in the morning til 10:30 at night. The night ended with having the bags ready for the missionaries that ended there missions as they boarded the bus for santiago, my last comp Elder Gomez was in the group. It was super weird to see missionaries "die", more then anything my comp. But yep so the next day had a couple more people that we had to send to the terminal but after 1pm we finally got to go work!!! :) I am so stoked for this cambio, me and my comp have a ton of animo, we are creating some awesome ideas and really getting this sector going, ha I only had 2 weeks to learn the sector which was tough but learned enough and now we are learning the rest together. We are working hard and really trying to get things going, we talked to the stake president and we have the book of mormon program coming along, as well we are planning an activity for our ward named "chimbombas" ha thats slang for globo (ballooon) in niceragua. we are creating a game show activity where the members will have teams and have to break balloons that have certain tasks spiritual, trivial, and physical that they will compete against each other, now its just the time to coordinate it well and invite a ton of people, We were super super super stoked our first day we taught someone at the door the other day that has a child, she is 20 years old and was way receptive, yesterday we passed by again to teach her and she accepted a date for baptism, we were super stoked because we have no investigators at this moment and are really trying to get this sector going. She said she was excited to learn more so ill let you know how it goes.

Other news the last couple days has been super awesome, we have been teaching a lot of people and helping alot of people with small tasks. I noticed this week we have a lot of older people in our sector so we have been having tons of oppurtunities to help stack fire wood, and yesterday Idk what it is with me helping people that are carrying branches, but yesterday helped an older man carry HUGE branches to his house, he was from the country and I have no idea what he was going to do with these branches but we were glad to bring them to his house.

Also we have been trying to sing more hymns with people, ha but something super funny happened, Usually we always always try to sing the song in the house or at least on the porch, We were teaching this one lady as she sat on her porch but from her gate which was pretty far, I asked her if she would like to hear a hymn and she said yes, I thought that would get her to open the gate but no after I asked if she could open the gate she said no no right there is fine, so I looked at my comp and we just laughed then sang some verses of I am a child of God, haha oh man we felt pretty funny doing that in the street it totally appeared like we were the evangelicals that sing at the corners of the streets on weekends. and there wer soooo many trucks that passed by as well so it made it difficult to hear, ha but went well the lesson despite all the great things that happened.

But yep crazy week, ha lots and lots of things that we had to do, loving it though, its beautiful here in osorno every house always house a tons of flowers, usually roses, I think its because the humidity, its getting to be super hot now, but the rain never ceases here in south of chile ha at least 2 times a week it has to rain:) gotta love the rain here or youd be a unhappy camper.

This upcoming Tuesday we are planning on having a meeting with the district leaders, we have an awesome zone and we want to get them excited for the work and set some goals as a zone and talk about what we have planned to get our zone starting this transfer well. To answer your question we usually have to talk with people every day, we are always talking about things, usually just approving something they need to do, giving them information about Visas or other things, animating them, and numbers. But its super important to just animate them and give them ideas and tools to spark a idea of how they can help their sectors and districts. So far havent had to many problems, just a couple districts getting along with other comps, but Im sure theyll be some interesting things.

Have no doubt that this is the lords work, thanks for all your support, its super cool to see your efforts to tell people of the happiness that we have. Hope Thanksgiving goes great, excited to open my gifts ha I love how every one of them has a scripture. Love you guys a ton, take care:)

hay estamos!!!! (Photos)

Hey!
Hows it going?! So quick reminder that im in osorno now so my pday will be on saturdays, when I write and all so you can write me friday or i wont see it til next saturday, but yep so hows it going?!

This week was pretty awesome, lots and lots of things that happened. First of all we headed to that one small pueblo with the stake president and some other missionarys and it went super well, it was crazy because the church isnt there right now and hasnt been for years (20 or 30 years) So we had a plan to visit the list of members that were there, it was super cool because we went with teens that are preparing to go on the mission and had splits with them, it was such a beautiful place and perfect to get these teenagers excited to serve. No one recognized the missionaries there and were super loving it was way cool, ha it was easy to find the names of the people because its such a small town that everyone knows each other. Us personally didnt have the chance to find old members but others did and they were so excited to hear from the missionarys, imagine being a member but not having a place to meet and partake of the sacrament, some had the chance to teach these members and the members cried with happiness of a hope that one day the church can start back up again, the topic will be if they are going to implement a group there (where they can meet and partake of the sacrament with a leader of the nearest ward) step by step this place can get started, oh it was so cool as well, all the jovenes were super stoked that they could do the work, every year jovenes are being even more prepared, its such an amazing time to be a missionary, the joven that left with me to do the work was shyer but we taught a lady in the street about prayer and the restored church and he had the chance to explain the way the spirit answers our questions and quides us, it was super cool to see his excitement after testifying.

We were inspired after that trip to start having "invasions" in sectors that are struggling to find people. An "invasion" is where your district or zone goes to one sector and the missionaries of that sector give you a designated place to work with some lists of less actives and contacts and everyone works super hard in one sector for like 3 hours more or less. It is an amazing way to get the work speedying up in a sector thats dead or slower. We also want to start applying this but as well with the jovenes of the stake that are preparing to leave on the mission to go with us to do these "invasions", this week we did one in one sector for one for one of the missionaries in our district and went super well, could speed up the work.

We also had an intercambio with one of the elders in the office, he doesnt have a companion right now so we went with him to go visit one of his investigators, oh his investigator was sooo amazing, so prepared, we explained the gospel and the spirit was so strong as he told us he is taking this for real now, and really wants to know how he can truly apply repentance in his life, I think the key thing we talked about was how amazing it is to be baptized and be part of this grat covenant or promise with god that his spirit will always be there to help him overcome all the trials in his life, he loved to hear about the gift of the spirit and how its a sanctifier and purifier.

We also had a ton of less actives come to church this last sunday, its so amazing because it was those we passed by, its super cool to see the most powerful tool to get someone to church is a hymn and the book of mormon, each person that we shared with had a very distinct memory of their testimony of the book of mormon and as well as songs they sung when they were young like im a child of god, I think my first roots of a testimony were made in primary singing and learning that I was a son of God, ha as well as the music mom always played of the church in the car when we were young.

Something else super awesome we got to do this week was have mutual with the jovenes, our assignment for the ward is the counselors of young mens. The president couldnt be there but we planned a mutual where we taught how we can check oil and other simple tasks in the cars, we made sandwhiches and milkshakes as well, and we got to end with a sweet video talking about how they can recieve revelation by the spirit even at their age. It was such a cool moment to see all the jovenes tell us they are committed to serve the mission, it was touching because there are only 3 jovenes one that has 12, other 14 and other 17. All super excited, the youngest one said "this is the best mutual ive ever had!" haha it was touching cause it was a simple mutual but I remember many of the simple mutuals ive had have had an impact on my life. So greatful for the church and for all the leaders that have helped me find my own testimony and know what it truly means to be a disciple of christ as well as enjoy this life.

But yep good times, ha really just trying to work hard and get my ward going, theres only 50 that assist here so its a very small ward and we share the ward boundaries with hermans in the other sector so in our sector theres only 2 members, so we are just being super creative and just praying for guidance, I really really want to have success in this sector, there are sooo many menos activos so we will really be working on how we can inspire them all.

Also we had Zone Council, which went super well we emphasized how our zone is doing amazing in references of families and we created a form that they can implement where they can write the plans they have of how that family can be the ones to contact the reference and play a part in the work, as well we focused on how we could be good at verifying and find the best way to do it, we created a system that focuses on different key indicators different days and has worked well, and lastly we have really focussed on the great joy that comes by inviting people to be baptized, we explained that its important to invite to see the interest, as well showing them why we are here, also with putting them with a baptismal date more then anything to tell them more or less it will take 4 weeks to teach you all we need to, and if you do what we invite you, more or less in that time you will recieve your own testimony and be ready to enter the door to a life with more purpose and guidance, baptism is such a key doctrine to understand as a member.

But yep hope all is well, Im super excited about the work, I cant tell you how amazing it is to be a missionary, we have come home wiped every day and the spirit is constantly telling us that this is the work of the lord, love you all so much, one quote I love that president rappleye told us is "If you missed the joy, you missed it all" We gotta enjoy our missions, journeys, lives, this gospel is not just made to recieve that great gift of eternal life, but the peace in this life and a new perspective of living.

Que les vaya bonito

Hey! Sobrecambio (New Sector, with new Prep Day (Sat) ) w/ Photos

Hey Family!!!!
So this has been a pretty crazy week, first of all I had a emergency transfer..I think its called that in Ingles (sobrecambio), I got a call from president tuesday that I would be going to Osorno as Zone leader. So I had a one night to get packed and say goodbye to investigators and members, Here in Osorno the Preperation Day is on Saturdays so youll have to right me before Saturday now. But yep lots and lots of things to do for sure. My comp right now is sweet, Elder Gomez, he is from Valparaiso,Chile, he is ending his mission in one week so I have to get the sector down in one week. Lots of new things to learn and fast but excited to learn. ha the mission can be super humbling.

This Friday we had the Consejo de los lideres, was super sweet, loved the way president explained how we can improve and inspire others. I loved the concept of giving others the abilitity to choose and find their own revelation while giving them tools, advice, and a framework to get that revelation started. Also got to see a lot of the missionaries I started with was way cool, as well as Hna Rappleye made us taco soup wayyy good havent had that in forever.
As for our sector its super humbling, its a lot of focus on less actives, really really trying to just get to know as many people and streets as possible before the end of this cambio. Its super weird being in the zone of the office and mission home and all, ha always lived far away from it all, its beautiful here, like puerto montt, super green, more of a german style of houses haha not sure if its true but what the people here say. We havent had too much time to work in our sector but we are trying to take advantage of every moment.
Thursday we had an interview with the stake president here and he is super super sweet, we are stoked to get things going here, he is a younger president and has soooo much excitement for the work, we are going to be implementing a book of mormon reading plan that a marriage couple made thats super super sweet for all the stake, but we just got to implement it well.
Also we have a trip to a place called Puerto Octay this sunday after church with him as well, this city used to be a branch but over time was shut down, he is taking us to go try to find if there are still members there and if they are still receptive to getting the branch back and running, excited to see if we can find some members there, they say its beautiful there so maybe ill take a photo for you guys.

But yep lots of things to do its kinda crazy, my last sector was going great my companion was learning a ton and we were finding some awesome familys and other investigators, it was sweet to work so hard and to start seeing the fruits, but yeah ill just have to keep praying for those investigators ha most I can do now. But yep ill miss that sector it was super sweet, got kinda emotional to leave but thats the mission ha. Just gotta give it me all in this sector now. Our zone just had a baptism this weekend so that was sweet, we are just really really going to have to focus a ton on the work with the members. getting their confidence, excitement, and knowledge of how they can improve with the work will be huge. Excited to really seek for the lords guidance to get our sector and others sectors going.

But yep, well hope all is well I love you guys a ton, our you home now?
Pray for you guys always, love you a ton, So greatful to serve the lord and each and every day im seeing the amazing blessings that God has given us. Even in a world filled with so much confusion and sadness, its so amazing what we are privelaged to do as missionarys.
pero bueno,
Take Care!

Nothing but Buenas Vibras esta semana haha

Hey Hey!
So this week we have had some awesome things happen, progression in the work, and a couple fun crazy people stories.
Im loving this camio so much, me and my comp are just working super super hard and just want to keep giving more. We have had some awesome ideas and my comp has been awesome. Even with the trial of language we have been able to find so many ways that we can work 50/50 and we are starting to see the fruits of our labors, One of our investigatores came to our activity at the church this wed!!! she came with her sister, this is the one that talks really good english, we were stoked and she got along great with everyone, we asked if she would get baptized and said if I recieve and answer so thats where we are at right now super sweet, Ill put a foto of the idea we did for the activity, we did an activity of the questions of the soul for the book of mormon, we blew up balloons with some having questions, and they had to get in groups and pop the balloons to find the balloons that had the questions and find a scruipture and experience for each, it went super well and was spiritual on top of it.

Other news we had a "special training as a couple zones this week with president, we learned about 2 awesome things. One is a new manual the church came out with for the missionarys, its of how to handle stress, and gives tons of awesome ideas, I was loving the booklet, I think its cool how the church is always giving us resources to become better, its awesome, the manual will be an awesome source of ideas to reduce stress. And the second part was he talked about the attributes of being a Lider A compared to a Lider B, I loved hearing all of the experiences that our president has had in business and that one is he told us of a very famous business man that talked about all the success he had, and all of his success referred to the attributes of a leader as found in DyC 121 at the end, he stated that any business would be so much successful if liders were based on these principles (of priesthood), and said in the church these principles are NECESSARY to have success. Stoked to anaylsis more of how I can develop theses traits.

For some fun stories:

Trash Bag Bernadita: So I actually have no idea what this ladies name is but we were asking all people if we could help them and we asked this old lady that was having trouble with a huge bag. she gave me the bag and it was super super heavy, I realized it was just full of trash, like banana peals and wrappers and who knows what, then she started talking to me and then the reality that hit me was she was crazy homeless lady, I also dont know how i didnt see but in her other hand she just had a hugeee branch of a tree, So on this main road I carried her super heavy bag of trash to another location, but before we got to that location she had to make some pit stop at a trash bin to snag some more trash, ha I know we need to help people but Im not sure how this trash will help her. and thats trash bag bernadita.

weird dude: So there was a weird guy that walked straight up to us putting out his hand asking for money making the sign in his hands for money, being accostomed to this from los muermos I immediately took out a card with a picture of christ, gave it to him, and without him questioning for more or anything immediately took it and ran back to his bench, ha idk had to be there

haha and last but not least yesterday God wanted to test to see how I can withstand 5 min of like 5 akward moments, went to a lady that we taught the day b4 in front of her house and her husband wanted nothing to do with us, as I tried to take away the awkwardness another investigator that lives in front of them saw us and after we were rejected we talked to him and he had to get going so I said ah yeah its all good we have a cita over there, as we were walking in that other direction another investigators that just dropped us was out in front but the akward part was she just had a sports brah on, the first time we passed I didnt notice and thought it would be polite to come back and say hi for a second, but then she was embarrassed that she wasnt wearing much clothes (even more awkward for me probly) and entered the house. then as we were leaving that cul de saw saw the guy that we just told we had an appointment and it was just weird so we kept walking, haha but beyond all the awkward found a awesome family and we were able to teach them so its all about diligence:) ha gotta love it

but yeah well take care, thanks for the photos I love that one with the birds eye view, hope you guys keep enjoying hawaii way sweet!!! glad blakes ok! I was praying a ton for him.

Bueno I know without a doubt this church is true and that God is helping me every day learn and grow. I love this time, and its because its dedicated to our lord and savior jesucristo.

Take care, love you all!!! :)

Gotta love the small Miracles! (Photos)

Hey Fam! So this week went pretty sweet, we had some pretty cool experiences, One day it was raining super super hard and we had to pass by this ladies house, we knew we most likely werent going to be let in because no hay un hombre, and we saw no clear skies in the distance, as we turned the corner the pooring rain completely stopped it was crazy, and the sun came out, as we knocked the door we were able to talk and teach her for a good 20 min at the door, we talked a lot about gods plan and she began to tear up ove the subject. As we left there was no doubt in my mind God helped us out with that small miracle.
This week went super good we found a lot of people and got a lot of less actives to come back to church thanks to assignments. I know without a doubt that God places people in our way in the perfect timing, there is a sister in the ward that is inactive that we passed by at her mini market (market connected to her house) we talked for awhile and then her daughter walked in with her daughter she has like 29 years old. And we began to talk to her (daughter of the lady) as well, we were able to pass the reference over to the hermana misioneras to pass by, the daughter assisted, then later that day I felt impressed to pass by her mom that has the mini market, I told her her daughter assisted then she got all happy and said I need to assist and actually can you give my house a blessing one day and said she would be willing to close down her shop (which is pretty rare to do here), So we are going to do that this week and this sunday the mom assisted!,  ha I know that story probably sounded super complicated but basically its just so cool how God never forgets about people that arent assisting and always wants them to come back, its never to late for anyone and I am so greatful we have to chance on the mission to help be part of this reactivations.
We also started walking around with the Book of Mormon in hand and have made a goal to talk to everyone, EVERYONE haha, We have really wanted to show the lord our faith and the results have been super sweet, we are constantly teaching people a cool story from the book of mormon in the street or door, and really just trying to get to know people, I think its super cool to see my comp just starting not having a fear to talk to anyone. ha we have sure had some interesting contacts one we had was with this business man from peru, as missionaries you always are looking for whatever thing to start a conersation haha I really enjoy talking to people and we started talking about his leather shoes, next thing you know that led us to help understand he is studying engineering and is getting his masters in engineering, also told us he will be going to europe to study, I told him we would love to stop by his house because our message would spark his interest, he told us that we could pass by and have a beer and talk of politics but I said religion and juice would be even better and he agreed, ha he gave us his number and we are passing by this next week. But its always fun to show ANY type of person how our message is for EVERYONE.
Also I am really loving every day, one thing intersting I did was a fast as a companionship and personally, personaly I fasted to have more patience and love, and I loved the response I got, I felt as though everyhthing that next 3 days was a lot harder asking for a lot more love and patience from everyone, also was pretty sick and yeah basically a lot of patience tested. But I was so greatful for that and think it was probably one of the best fasts ive had because it helped me grow. also we fasted to find people and we were so blessed as we searched we were able to teach and find a fair share of people.
One cool lesson we had we with a family that there daughter really really likes english, she actually speaks very well, We had an idea to give her a liahona with a testimony of someone that recieved an answer to the book of mormon and explained how we can recieve an answer, we gave two copies of the magazine, one in english and one is spanish, she and her brother were super excited to read it, its super cool how many ways you can teach applying the message to their lives. One thing I love on the mission our purpose is simple and our doctrine pure, and the lord gives us a million ways to share the same message to fit the need of EVERY one of his children. Super cool.
jumpsuit of paint (I was trying to act like a serious painter)
new comp
yeah!
but yeah it has been a good week, im eating healthier as well!!!
Ive been eating bananas with yogurt in the mornings ha but other than that we dont have much control of what we eat.
Hope all goes well this week thats sweet that you one the championship, I thought you guys were the new york yankees for a bit haha
been using my dog zapper a lot more now theres one neighborhood where I hate knocking cause the dogs just bark, but with a couple zaps theres peace.
ha it is kinda weird to hear zack! but its all good. Thats a sweet goal mom! tell me some stories you have id love to hear how it goes with the book of mormon. I love using it to teach, ha taught one lesson with an atheist and a jehova witness and answered both their doubts using it. No better spirit that comes from the book of mormon and the bible.
bueno bueno, que les vaya bonito esta semana!!!

HEY FAMILY!!!!!!

Familia! thanks for all the letters It was cool to get letters from everyone It was nice to here how you all are, pray for all of you;) ha this week has been pretty god!
I have another nuevito! ha and like me at the beginning cant talk spanish but excited to grow and to get him off to a good start. Its funny to hear all the reactions and comments of someone new here, It doesnt seem like that long ago I was in los muermos being chased by drunks and eating food that I saw alive the day before :) haha
traveled to the mission home again and got to eat completos, I will send a picture of our new companionship later (dont have my camera with me) and of me painting with a sweet jumpsuit, idk if blake painted with such sweet equipment like we did haha.

It has been a week with a lot of things to do and think about. I LOVE training...but at the beginning you are kinda doing a lot of things by yourself because he cant really help, But its cool because I am really trying to get him to feel like he is just my comp and not a trainee, and just make him feel like he can help me with everything, Its cool to learn from past experiences.

hmm one funny thing that my comp said in our prayer last night in spanish is please bless my comp that he can be sick and thats it (cause i have a cold right now) haha I laughed pretty hard hes a good sport and laughs aout his mistakes ha I had some pretty bad mistakes at the beginning and got super embarrassed but then learned to just laugh at yourself especially in this culture, well in all places.

We have found some awesome familias!!! and have had some great support from the members, also we are offering a ton of service to all of the members, actually saturday we painted a wall of a member I was stoked because I got to wear a jumpsuit again, I have one im bringing home thats from puerto natales so if we ever paint at home Im reppin it, haha I got burnt SOOOO BAD this week my skin is so white, my skin is forgetting that im from california, maybe one day I can remind it.

The weather here is kinda bipolar it will rain a ton and other moment it wont at all. We will most likely be having a baptism this next month, we met someone from campo that there whole family is mormon but their daughter that has 14 year isnt and wants to be, we are going to there house tomorrow because they say they have a "devil or something" in their house, so that should be interesting, just going to give the house a blessing. The priesthood is pretty sweet huh:)

I have been learning a ton from my comp and in all things.
One cool thing I learned today in my personal study I liked was in matthew 8 where it talks about when the apostles go with christ on a boat and they get scared as he is sleeping and then he calms the sea and the storm and tells them why were they scared and that they lack of faith. I think a concept that a lot of times we miss in our lives is when it says "christ was sleeping" A lot of times in our lives we want to become better people or want to recieve an answer so we pray to god, or try to come closer to him in this sense the apostles boarded the boat, maybe for me can be the mission. A lot of times we find that its not easy where we are but we must continue in faith, A lot of times in our lives we have trials and we might feel God isnt there or that he is "sleeping." one scripture I loved to help me answer this was in 3 nefi 19 (almost sure but dont remember the verse) where christ says that it is necessary for him to got to the father and leave them for there benefit. I thought that was a super cool way of looking at it, The truth is that christ is ALWAYS there in our lives but often needs to leave us to act for our own, be tested, or show our faith. As we show our faith and take advantage of having the gospel in a "fallen world" we can benefit immensely from this plan. I know without a doubt that God loves us and wants us to be happy, even if that means feeling at times alone or if all things are against us, he has put everything in our way so we can succeed, its the perfect plan, its gods plan.

Pero bueno....Ill forsure be telling you some great other stories, because we always have some haha im excited to help my comp find enjoyment in the struggling at the beginning, I had the chance to bare my testimony of our family in a house this week and almost started crying, I dont tell to many spiritual stories to much people especially of my family because they are sacred, but when I use them it makes them that much more special, thanks for giving me those experiences that have made me me.
thats so sweet with kaylas family!!!! I wanted to know if you could make me a family history pedigree chart? that would be way sweet, how far back do we have aour family history, always calls my attention on the mission I loved that last info you gave me dad
Love you guys a ton! working hard, loving the mission,

Hope all is well! abrazos

Awesome Week!

So it was a pretty sweet week! First we had interviews with president which went well, then conference. Oh man it goes way to fast on the mission, each session felt like 20 min. Looks like you guys really enjoyed it, I envy you guys to have DVR I would so use that to pause and write revelation that comes as you watch, I was lucky and got to watch the conference in english at the stake center, it was my first time watching where it hadnt froze or cut out (the 2 other times I watched in puerto natales and los muermos (in branches far away on computer) which the signals werent to good, but this stake center has a satelite like at home and was amazing:), I learned so much from this conference, it was crazy how much they emphasized the work and how its really being sped up. Cool stuff huh. But ill talk more about that later on in my letter.

We have come to cambios again (transfers) and my comp has ended his training, I have been called again to be a trainer, I will be training an elder fresh out of New Mexico, It was funny because when president called me I thought he said Mexico and I thought oh cool Ill learn some mexican spanish but then he corrected me and said "new" and that changed everything haha well from what I know when I hear new mexico I just think of uncle jeff and his family and they are pretty gringo but maybe theyll have some spanish like kyle haha so more than likely he wont speak anything just like the last 2 ive trained. ha should be a great experience, I am so excited to learn more and more every day, one cool thing about training is they have this spirit of the mtc and so much faith and even beyond that language barrier you see so much miracles take place.

My comp right now wont be going to far either haha he is going to be in the sector right next to mine, still in the ward and he will be living in the same house as me, so that will be interesting but cool to see him continue to progress he will be with a elder from peru that has already been living with us.

Today we had a bbq with the zone and played volleyball it was pretty fun, I splurged and bought some dried banana chips, SOOO GOOD. but I got so fried today haha i forgot sunscreen which isnt smart cause the ozone layer doesnt exist here.

So im glad you all enjoyed the conference, I kinda wanted to share some thoughts I had with a couple,
Primero I really really liked that of Elder Bednar on tithing, more and more time on the mission im gaining an interest in business and I loved how he referred to DyC 119 and 120, how the church handles the finances, I think its incredible like he said how our church so big in all the world can have a counsel that makes the decisions of tithing so small, It is truly evidence that our church is guided by God.
Another is that of Uchtdorf when he talked about why people leave the church, I loved when he said "doubt your doubts before you doubt your faith" I love how he said that doubts are natural and so essencial for us to continue growing. I also loved how he commented on when people call someone a hipocrite of our church and how he said, IF we were to define hypocrite it is someone that does not perfectly complete with what the believe, if thats so arent we all hypocrites? I also loved how he said how we as people arent perfect, if we were perfect we wouldnt need a church, and that God is perfect and his doctrine is pure, thanks to that we can continue on in his church. I think our invitation to all is if these desires that we have to become like God are yours (mosiah 18) then what keeps you from entering this way to eternal life.

Also one that really touched me and actually made me emotional is that of president monson when he talked about home teaching, I immediately remembered the amazing example of you dad, of all the people we have had a privelage to go to (^sometimes you dragging me) One experience I think I was so greatful for was that of us visiting the Kings. I cant tell you how greatful I am dad for being a good home teacher, I had the experience to be impacted by those 2 amazing people, when brother king past away at his funeral sis King as she walked into the chapel she reached her arm out to me and I walked with her, I dont think I would have ever have felt so much charity for anyone if I would not had been faithful to our hometeaching, So thanks so much for being a great dad and hometeaching companion, We had some amazing memories of being companions and still I hear of your great desire to continue passing and really creating great connections with those that god chose for you to pass by.

Looks like you guys had a great time at the pumpkin patch! haha carter is so big. Love you guys a ton, we have really been working hard and know with hard work, patience, and faith God will start giving us investigators here in this sector. love you a ton:)

P.S. Grandma when I can I will love to come and take care of the yard ;) haha how did the garage sale go mom and grandma? I remember we would always play airsoft down there haha, I think my college clothes are down there right?

Family!

Hey so first talking of the dentist so I waited, and it was worth it:) the dentist I got was a reference that was really good and only cost $56 mil (112 US) so a lot a lot better, So i think I am good with money, I have used a bit to buy some recuerdos but not to  much so I think im good,

haha speaking of doctor stuff we have been having to travel to the doctor a coup`le times my comp is in the process of recieving a vaccine for rabies haha I know I shouldnt laugh but it was just random, a dog bit him when we were knocking on doors, the doctors said most likely he doesnt have rabies but the mission wanted us to go anyways just in case, which is funny cause my last comp got bit by a dog as well but Im pretty lucky and the dogs dont like biting me.

This week has been awesome. We had a super long first two days of the week but the end we found  3 families and one person that could progress immensely and recieved a  reference of another family that wants to be taught. God is truly answering our prayers, it has been pure sun as well which has been nice, its funny though here cause when it rains you want sun and when theres sun you want rain cause the sun here KILLS your skin, im pretty sunburnt but nice to be sumburnt havent had that feeling for awhile.

Ah how cool with joshs parents, Id like to know how that turns out, hows brother combs doing randomly pòpped in my head? blake is super tan haha hed laugh if he saw me, theres not usually much sun so im whiter then ever. you could call me elder snowflake.

This week we finally had an investigator at church!!!! and its the lady that lives right next to the  family that is a member. She stayed for all hours and loved it, oh man how happy I was after all our work this transfer to see an investigator at church, makes you feel good after working hard to see someone excited at church.

Also I AM SO STOKED FOR CONFERENCE THIS WEEKEND!!!!!  its going to be amazing, we are really really going to try to pump up all others as well for the super bowl of revelation. haha im sure you can feel the excitement as you read these words.

I was thinking for some things if i were to get a package would be some good church socks, mine are starting to get holes maybe like 4 or 5 also a picture of christ (the one that is all of the bishops offices) and any others that you guys like. and....yeah i cant think of anything else for now but Ill let you know, oh maybe burts bees chapstick like just  2 sticks.

For my studies I think one thing that called my attention was when christ was talking to nicdomeous in juan 3, I love the scripture where he says if you dont  understand worldly things how are you going to understand spiritual things. I applied it to us as members, a lot of times we tend to forget that our convenio bautismal is to take upon the name of christ. I learned something new from the scripture in that God wants us to live the gospel and be disciples of him at all times, now that doesnt mean knocking doors in our neighborhood telling them to repent but being good people, developing good traits and understanding that with the atonement of christ we can became better people in all aspects of live. I admire that about you mom and dad, you guys always have this desire to become better people. And as we show God that we understand earthly things (referring to our daily life) like cleaning the house, doing service, managing money wisely, etc we are showing the lord we can manage the great mysteries and blessings he has in store for people that take upon his name. For me that would be striving to be 100% obedient, waking up on time, doing my exercises, cleaning the dishes, taking out the trash. Its cool how being mormon or in other words a disciple of christ helps us become better people every day in all aspects of our life. Thats one of the great benefits of being a mormon, knowing that through the atonement, and the teachings we recieve we can become more and more like our heavenly father.
Thanks for the photos looks exciting!!! i feel like that would be way cool to go to sea world with carter cause its a dream come true for a kids his age. tell everyone I said hi, love you all, keep praying and reading your scriptures ;) haha chao (im embarrassed ive been spelling that wrong my whole mission) i spelt it chow ( super gringo) that sounds like a type of asian chicken.

HEY HEY! (Lot's of Photos from 17 de Septiembre)

Hey family!
So this week was way awesome. We had some great progress in the work, as well as an opportunity to really get to know and enjoy the culture of chile.
So this week was the indepence day of chile the fiestas patrias. We had 3 days off, we did so much, we ate pork barbecue by the stick, and much much more. The first day of the holidays we visited a family that invited us to have that bbq, soooooo much meat! before the meat we ate some empanadas and mote con huesillo (that picture with the dried peaches with wheat in a cup of liquid stuff) sooo good (ill cook that at home forsure). Also we played a lot of chilean folklore games. One of which is something called a trompo, its like a top or spinner but better. It is kinda hard to make it spin but im getting better ha i bought one for $2 and im addicted so every pday im going to practice. But yeah SOOO MUCH FOOD!!! we had dessert it was a cake and alfajores which are cookies with manjar (dulce de leche) super good, I was worried we werent going to have an oppurtunity to share a scripture (as missionaries we had to really take advantage of this time to share even if it was small) I had a chance when I left I shared a small scripture in 3 nefi 14 and thanked them for the family standards they have and how they showed us that we as disciples of christ can have fun on a day where... well where the rest are not going to remember what happened the next day.
We also went to another house of members for another asado that night,,,, haha we were soooooo full that night, the next day it was the huge activity at the ward. Sooo much carne again, we got to play a chilean game called tejo which is kinda like bachi ball in a sense where they have a box filled with dirt on the ground and a string tied going a across and you try to throw metal cylinders closest to the string, the had a competition and me and my partner in the game (a priest of the church named esteban) won!!! ha i had some nice bragging rights the rest of the day. Also watched tons of people perform, dance the cueca and do other cultures, it was super cool, I had heard a ton of the culture songs before and it was super cool because I knew the words and really enjoyed the show, ha the culture is rubbing onto me. but yep and the next day we still couldnt leave to knock our proselite but we had another awesome meal. Ha soooo much food though it was forsure an awesome experience.

In other news we found an awesome family this week and are excited to see their progress. Also other cool story, (still not used to wards they are so huge) but luckily I always salute everyone I see and turns out I talked to one of the hermanos for awhile at the activity and 3 days later we passed by an hermanas house trying to see if we could teach her family knowing the fmailys dad isnt a member, he showed up and looked realyl familiar, turns out it was the hermano I talked to at the acitivity and i had no idea, it was a great way to gain his confidence and we were able to bring the spirit when we taught.

Also going to get my tooth fixed, ha sadly still havent done that because of all the cambios i couldnt do it then so i have an appointment tomorrow.

But yep ended up being a great week, only thing after 3 days of no work is you really really are stoked to get back to work after. And the day after we had that great chance to get back to work and we had a great fin de semana de trabajo. ive really been noticing all the small miracles god gives us every day and am so greatful, Its amazing how much we can learn on the mission. Im really really enjoying the book of mormon like never before and its amazing how the spirit constantly testifies to us as we read.

But yeah basically eso por la semana. if I could think of anything I need is a flea collar for my birthday but im going to try to find that here so you dont need to spend money sending a package

Thanks for all your letters here are a ton of pictures of the week,

FELIZ 18 de SEPTIEMBRE!!!! (Photos)

Hey Hey!
So this week has been pretty sweet, ha tons and tons of animo, this upcoming week will be 18 de septiembre, HUGE HUGE holiday here in Chile, its like our 4th of july but even bigger, they celebrate for 3 days and its called the fiestas patrias.
This week has been super good, a lot of rain at the beginning haha like always but then it got sunny the rest of the week and im sumburnt now hah super bipolar weather. But was a super great week, im for sure learning so much here in on the mission.

For starters the truth of things is in our sector we dont have too much regarding investigatores so it was a week filled with tons of contacts and capicitating members. ha but I loved it, and I know your probably saying oh no elder carter is going crazy he is enjoying a slower week, BUT! I did enjoy it in many ways and here is why,

1. The Atonement, every single thing that we testify and talk to people revolves around it, and reading the talk by holland, Missionary Work and the Atonement, I have been inspired, one thing I love he states is that in order to really learn and appreciate the atonement is to expereience a part of it, (now as holland said not comparing difficulties on the mission to be anywhere close to what he paid) but he suffered for a purpose and thats for the opposicion that is oh so essencial in our life for eternal growth. So as we were recieved poorly or someone made a cheesy gringo joke we continued and smiled knowing these experiences we will carry forever and will help us on that journey to eternal life.

2. Faith, Faith is gift from God, a hope for something not seen, and comes after the trial of our faith, 2 great examples of the trial of our faith would be one our district had a baptism this weekend but as we were filling the font and had all the plans we got a call from the person that was going to get baptized and canceled, so instead of the baptism we just had to get out and put on a smile and get working :) I think a even simpler one would be this sunday when we found out we were going to be eating lunch with a fun family that sunday, but then to our suprise a sister from the church made us a bag lunch, she was a poorer lady and it was a very humble meal we had to take it home and eat it by ourselves, that change humbled me immensely and as I put away my natural desire I thanked the hermana and enjoyed that meal immensely at the house with a smile, I was so greatful for that hna that made us the food, small things happen every day that test our faith and help us grow, it is up to our decisiones when no one is watching that will help strengthen our virtue, also if God answered every one of our missionary pleads for miracles then how would we learn diligence, patience and well almost all of the atributes of christ, These times on the mission have taught me that God is our Heavenly Father and He knows what we need, as we do his will eternal blessing come our way. So although we cant see the success we know it comes thanks to the faith in our savior jesus christ.

3 Anxiously engaged in a good cause- ha obviously all these things have so much in common but one thing I love about the mission is we truly have sooooo much things we can do to bring us more success and invite the spirit, its endless, in our lives as we are anxiously engaged to do good things we reciece more blessings, this sunday we really really just wanted to find progressing investigators and so we fasted and that day God blessed us with some amazing contacts and a the opportunity to teach one family of our churchs neighbor with the members. I am so greatful for the plan of God and how he has planned for us to learn.

This week we will be helping to prepare for the 18 de septiembre party that the ward will be having, tons of empanadas and so on, ill be sure to take tons of photos:)
One of these photos is from the intercambio we had as missionaries this elder is from peru, I ordered pizza for my first time on the mission, (ha never lived in the city so never could)

but that is awesome for fred sounds like he is doing amazing!!!!! ha mormon night at mission hills.
ha mom sorry I cant think of really anything I need for christmas but if I think of something I will tell you :)

love you guys so much I am so so so so greatful for our family, got the program with my pictures from the church, ha thank the hermana that does that, tell her its the only letter letters I ever get and Im very greatful haha:)

It is so amazing to invite others to come unto christ, and to see the power of the word of God. Greatful for our family and this great plan that makes it possible for us to be eternal. Love you guys:)

tell you more about the 18 mas adelante ;)
